What is Investment
Banking?
Investment Banking (IB) provides solutions
to clients to achieve their strategic and financing goals. IB
supports these clients by facilitating and financing their business
strategies, evaluating and executing mergers and acquisitions to
enhance their growth and connecting them with the right providers
of capital. Clients range from world’s largest multinational and
global corporations to financial institutions and governments.
Investment Banking operates mainly through
three areas of activities:
- Advisory (M&A or Corporate Finance), as
well as strategic advice to the Board, refers to activities aimed
at supporting the development of companies through the buying and
selling of other companies or assets, as well as other type of
financial transactions such as: leveraged buyouts (LBO’s),
financial restructurings, divestitures and privatisations.
- Investment Banking includes our Corporate
Banking business. Corporate Bankers in the team partner with our
product specialists to provide solutions to Citi’s global banking
clients. These can range from capital markets and foreign
exchange through trade finance loans, cash management, derivatives
and structured products, serving clients in more than 100 countries
around the world.
- Our Bankers partner closely with the Capital
Markets Origination division {click for further info} in order to
provide access to capital for Citi’s institutional clients through
the debt and equity capital markets. The Capital Markets
Origination team (Fixed Income Capital Markets and Equity Capital
