Sales, Trading and Quantitative Analysis
What Is Sales, Trading and Quantitative Analysis?
Sales and Trading
Our Institutional Clients Group
provides Sales and Trading services to clients around the world
while conducting proprietary trading for the Firm’s own accounts.
Our sales force provides a critical link between the Firm's
customers and the marketplace. These professionals identify client
needs and convey them to the Firm's trading, research, syndication
and finance experts. Traders work closely with the salespeople, who
constantly supply them with information on investors' activities,
appetites and interests. In trading, integration is key to
successful performance. The close collaboration of traders with
salespeople and professionals from other departments allows Citi to
meet the needs of our clients creatively.
Quantitative Trading and Analysis
The Markets
Quantitative Analysis department plays a vital role in the
Institutional Clients Group because of the information they provide
and the skills they possess. Professionals spend a significant
amount of time speaking directly with clients to discuss specific
ideas, as well as bigger-picture themes. They build tools and
models that assist traders and clients in pricing, hedging, and
structuring securities, and provide critical information and advice
for managing risk throughout the firm.
The role of our quantitative trading desks and the successful
integration of quantitative methods with trading takes on a greater
significance as products in the financial markets become more
sophisticated and proprietary trading risks increase. The rise in
prominence of proprietary trading has also led to the development
of increasingly sophisticated trading techniques designed to
identify market inefficiencies in Statistical Equity Arbitrage,
Fixed Income Arbitrage, and Municipal Arbitrage.
