Describe the most memorable experience you've ever had
at Citi.
Upon joining Citi, our Class of 2006 MAs
from CMB in Korea spent 6 weeks together in Shanghai for training.
Our batch also included other MAs from the region, such as India,
China and Singapore. Taking classes by day and socializing by
night, it was a great opportunity to acclimate into the
organization and build life-long networks with a diverse group of
colleagues. Exploring one of the most dynamic and high-energy
cities in Asia, experiencing the indigenous food and culture, and
taking weekend getaways to nearby historic sites were an added
bonus.
What about your career excites you the most - gets you
out of bed in the morning?
Being able to work
side-by-side with Korea’s leading companies on a daily basis,
knowing that we are playing a crucial role in providing these
companies with the capital that fuels their growth and expansion
into the global markets.
What do you consider Citi's competitive
edge?
The breadth and depth of Citi’s knowledge base,
coupled with a global platform that enables its people to freely
access this wealth of knowledge and provide solutions to clients
anywhere in the world.
What other groups do you liaise with regularly within
the Firm?
As a member of the coverage team, I
constantly need to be on top of industry developments and new
financial products. Therefore, a lot of time is spent working with
Credit Analysts in Risk Management and product specialists from
FICC (Fixed Income, Currency & Commodities) and GTS (Global
Transaction Services). Whenever a deal is being executed, I also
work closely with our in-house counsels to hammer out legal
documents. Gaining the exposure to different aspects of the
business makes my job that much interesting.
What skills have you found to be the most useful in your
position?
People skills and communication skills.
Being able to work effectively and comfortably with others--be it
colleagues or clients--and communicating clearly and succinctly
makes work that much efficient and enjoyable.
How has Citi supported your career
development?
Citi reads my mind. I am given specific
assignments and training opportunities that are interesting,
challenging and constructive whenever I start feeling the need.
Taking Citi’s global presence into consideration, I also know that
going forward, there will always be opportunities out there to
build my career beyond a country’s border.
What is the most interesting fact about
yourself?
Perhaps the fact that I am a third
generation banker in my family, as my father and grandfather both
spent their whole careers in the corporate banking industry. Thus,
I had always felt that entering this industry was hereditary.
